The Rugby World Cup 2019 and Tokyo Olympics 2020 in Japan presents a once in a lifetime opportunity for major event experts and suppliers to establish a presence in this important market and Asia more generally. MEI is leading a second delegation to Japan during the week 6 March and we invite you to register your interest. The visit aims to deliver enhanced market profile, gain new business and collaboration relationships, understand how best to pursue opportunities and meet key stakeholders. The programme is split into two parts with a focus on Tokyo and on the Rugby World Cup host city of Sapporo. For the Sapporo part of the programme we will collaborate and participate in the Japanese Sports Tourism Alliance 2 day conference. Outline of the programme
The proposed programme which we hope to deliver for delegates is as follows:
Wed 22nd February Mission briefing & doing business in Japan briefings.
Mon 6th Orientation City Tour of Tokyo
Tues 7th Stakeholder Workshops Briefing from Support Agencies (Government, Legal etc) Major Events Briefing Delegates lead sector workshops. MEI seeking engagement with key stakeholders & sponsors. PM Networking Reception & Informal Dinner
Wed 8th AM Depart for the City of Sapporo PM Tour of City Sports Facilities including: Sapporo Dome, Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium & Winter Sport Museum
Thurs 9th AM MEI orientation & networking programme PM Attend Japan Sports Tourism Alliance Conference. Includes briefing from Sapporo Mayor & some speaking opportunities for delegation. Drinks reception with Japanese companies and city stakeholders.
Fri 10th AM Attend Japan Sports Tourism Alliance Summit. Some speaking opportunities for delegation. PM Delegates return to Tokyo
Sat 11th Depart for UK or arrange own programme
Thurs 23rd March Mission debrief and look ahead
