Xwatch Safety Solutions, part of Hexagon, will launch its latest innovation — the EVC (Electronic Valve Control) system — at Plantworx 2025 (23rd-25th September, Newark Showground). Designed to work exclusively with the new Mk2 platform, EVC provides full safety control for a growing class of machines equipped with electronically controlled hydraulics.
Until now, these machines — such as the JCB Hydradig, and Caterpillar’s next-generation equipment — haven’t been compatible with conventional safety systems built for hydraulic control. For example, Caterpillar’s 320 and 323 models use electrohydraulic main control valves, eliminating traditional pilot lines and making conventional integration impossible. With EVC, Xwatch becomes the only safety provider capable of managing critical parameters, including height, slew, and rated capacity, on machines utilising electronic hydraulic architecture.
The EVC system is patent pending.
Building on the success of the Xwatch EHOC (Electric over Hydraulic Control) system, which first enabled safety control on machines with electronic control interfaces, the new EVC system takes that innovation further — delivering full compatibility with OEM machines that rely entirely on electronic hydraulic architecture.
The EVC system is built on the foundations of the new Mk2 platform, Xwatch’s next-generation safety system. Mk2 combines proven reliability with smarter engineering and full OEM integration. With a PL d-rated safety architecture (ISO 13849-1), 30% faster installation, and telematics-ready connectivity, Mk2 sets a new standard for protecting machines and operators on complex construction sites.
Dan Leaney, director of sales at Xwatch, said:
“EVC represents a significant advancement in safety control for electronically managed machines. OEMs are increasingly adopting electrohydraulic systems, which previously posed major integration barriers for safety devices. With the EVC system and our Mk2 platform, we’ve developed a robust and reliable solution — enabling full parameter control on machines that were previously incompatible with conventional safety systems.”
EVC offers a practical solution to a growing technical challenge, providing contractors and OEMs with a reliable safety system for machines designed around electronic hydraulics.
Visitors will also be able to see the SS2 rollover protection system in action, fitted to a Select Hire dumper. SS2 not only monitors machine angle, speed, and rollover risk in real time but also cuts the engine when a dangerous threshold is reached — stopping the machine before a rollover occurs. This critical intervention helps protect operators and equipment, significantly reducing the risk of serious incidents on site.
Alongside launching EVC, Xwatch will also be demonstrating XW-Insite, its most advanced and fully integrated telematics and safety platform to date. Developed in collaboration with technology partner PVS Data, XW-Insite connects live machine and safety data through a cloud-based dashboard, accessible both on-site and remotely. The system provides real-time visibility of machine health, fuel usage, operator behaviour, and live safety event data, helping plant managers and contractors to improve compliance, efficiency, and operational planning across mixed fleets.
