Thompson Plant Hire, based in Flimby, on the Cumbrian coast has just purchased a brand new Hyundai R300LC-9A long reach crawler excavator supplied by Cumbria-based Hyundai dealer, Taylor and Braithwaite. This new machine takes Thompson’s Hyundai fleet up to 11 machines, comprising six loading shovels and five excavators.
The 30 tonne long reach excavator is working in the South West of Scotland on a Lafarge Tarmac two-year ‘wet excavation’ project where the machine will be digging sand and gravel. The new machine’s operator reported that it was doing the job well so far and said it was a doddle to handle – he also said the cab was very comfortable – which is always a bonus!
Simon Winthorpe, plant manager, Thompsons Plant Hire said “We have worked with T&B and Hyundai since 2010 – it’s the reliability of the machines, cost, a very good warranty and the excellent back up service, that has cemented our relationship with T&B.”
Simon concluded, “Price isn’t everything – but back up service is! T&B can’t do enough and are always reliable and very quick to respond. You very rarely have to wait for parts too – they really do provide an all-round good service. We did look at other machines – but the Hyundai was by far the best all round.”
Simon also said that the company (Thompsons) always opt for the highest safety specification on all of their machines. This adds extra work for T&B – however delivery times are still swift and the T&B fitters work is also to be highly commended!
Thompsons Plant Hire is a family owned business based in the picturesque Lake District in the north west of England. Founded in 1994 by Kevin Thompson, the business has gone from strength to strength, and now has a considerable number of machines on its fleet, serving blue chip companies in the UK. The company continues to expand and is regularly adding to its fleet to meet with the growing demand.
Ian Burton, Sales Director, Taylor & Braithwaite said, “Taylor and Braithwaite have forged an excellent relationship with Thompson Plant Hire since 2010. We are delighted that they chose the Hyundai long reach over competitor’s machines – we have no doubt the R300LC-9A will do the job in hand with ease! Early reports from the operator are good! We look forward to continuing working with Thompson’s and continuing to support the company as it grows.”
