Gareth James, GJ Plant & Auto Electrics has been working with Xwatch Safety Solutions since 2019, when the company first launched, having worked with Chris Fitzgerald, a founder member of Xwatch, for some years previously.
Gareth explained, “I worked for a few years with Fitzgerald Plant Services focusing primarily on electrical and safety systems. To be involved with the next focus of the company (Xwatch) made perfect sense to grow both businesses by supporting Xwatch Safety Solutions.”Gareth added, “I began by installing early Xwatch systems to trial with various customers – the business soon took off from there in a big way. This new progressive company took the market by storm!”
Gareth has personally installed around 250+ Xwatch systems, which is quite an achievement in itself. “The installs have included many ‘first of types’ such as the first lorry mounted crane system and also height and slew monitoring on a rail going bandit wood chipper, which is currently going through network rail approval.” Said Gareth
Being an approved partner and dealer of the Xwatch products, GJ Plant caters to its national customers. In addition to this, the company carries out installs directly for Xwatch and also some of the other dealers around the UK.
Gareth reported that he has installed Xwatch systems on a wide range of machines and successfully designed a solution to interface with an OEM and the X Watch system. When asked what Gareth thought of the Xwatch suite of products he said, “The systems are very simple from an operator’s perspective and very easy to navigate through the menus, unlike competitors’ products that have various pages and sub-menus.”
Gareth added, The company is also ‘forward thinking’ and is constantly adapting to requirements. I am currently working closely with Xwatch on a new wiring loom system that will provide a uniform, efficient, time-saving install.”
The feedback from GJ Plant’s customers is also positive, “Synergy Hire has always complemented the simplicity of the systems and also the efficiency and timekeeping of the install.” Reported Gareth.
“The Xwatch system enables us to outperform other brand installers and ensure minimum downtime on the customers’ machines.
Synergy Hire is continuously having new XW4 systems installed with us, GAP Hire also has quite a few systems on their fleet including XW4, SS1 and a few Telehandler systems.”
Gareth concluded, “From a customer perspective, currently XW4, is the most popular system, but I think as the safety culture grows and people forecast future requirements – I believe that the XW5 system will be more popular to future proof the system with the added option of RCI.”
