We are excited to announce that the CEA’s CESAR Scheme will attend the Cereals exhibition in Newnham, Hertfordshire, from June 11 to 12. As the premier event for the agricultural industry, Cereals is the perfect platform for us to showcase our latest advancements in security technology for agricultural machinery.
Kevin Howells Datatag, Managing Director, said, “We are pleased to reveal that Segway, a leading manufacturer of agricultural ATVs and side-by-sides, has recently joined the CESAR Scheme. This collaboration will improve the security of Segway’s ATVs and UTVs and aligns with our commitment to safeguarding agricultural and rural communities from rising theft and crime.
Our presence at Cereals provides a vital opportunity to showcase the CESAR scheme’s important role in protecting valuable machinery and supporting the resilience of the farming sector.
At our stand, visitors can see the latest Segway models fitted with the CESAR ATV system. This system is designed to enhance the security of these valuable machines, providing peace of mind for farmers and landowners.”
Henry Maplethorpe, Managing Director of Dualways / Segway Powersports UK, said, “We are very pleased to have enrolled in the CESAR scheme.  We feel that rural crime and theft are issues that need to be addressed, and the CESAR scheme is a superb method to do so.”  We will fit the CESAR system on all our Segway ATVs and UTVs.”
The past year has seen a significant increase in rural crime, with a sharp 40% rise in the cost of such incidents in the first quarter alone. Quad and ATV thefts have been particularly concerning, totaling £2.2 million over the previous year. The combined effects of shipping delays, Covid, and Brexit have exacerbated the situation, increasing demand for new and second-hand farm and forest machinery. As waiting lists grow and market values soar, quads and ATVs have become prime targets for thieves, who see them as high-value, easily portable items with a lucrative resale market domestically and internationally.
In response to the growing threat, the UK has enacted the Equipment Theft (Prevention) Act 2023, which became law this year. This legislation is crucial in tackling agricultural and commercial equipment theft and resale. The Act mandates that equipment, especially those used in agriculture, must be fitted with anti-theft devices and unique identifiers. It also requires sellers to maintain detailed sales records. Effective January 20, 2024, the Act aims to make the resale of stolen goods more difficult, offering better protection for various industries against theft.
We invite all Cereals exhibition attendees to visit the CESAR stand. Discover how the CESAR Agri Scheme, is making strides in securing agricultural equipment and deterring theft. Join us on stand 1002b to learn more about our innovative solutions and how they can benefit your operations.
