Morris Site Machinery gets a YES from independent hire business

A fast growing independent hire business which competes with bigger national companies and requires reliable, quality equipment to maintain a competitive edge looks for the same commitment from its suppliers.

In the four and a half years since Your Equipment Solutions (YES) was formed at Grangemouth near Falkirk, Central Scotland, it has valued the products and services from a leading manufacturer and distributor Morris Site Machinery.

Its latest order for ten SMC TL-90 lighting towers will bring investment in its fleet to 25 lighting towers so it can grow its market share in the construction and events market. YES has also bought a large quantity of pressure washers bowsers, water pumps, 20kVA generators and welders from Morris Site Machinery.

Managing director David Johnstone started the hire business after working for a major national hire company. He could see a gap in the market for an independent operation which was flexible and could respond quickly to customers.

It now employs 11 people and covers the whole of Scotland, offering a one-stop shop where contractors and consumers can hire, buy or have equipment serviced or repaired under the one roof.

David said: “It is absolutely critical when supplying goods that we have up-to-date, reliable equipment. We are competing against some of the national businesses with multiple locations across Scotland.

“I think people like to use independent businesses which they can trust to deliver what they need.

“We get the reliability factor from Morris Site Machinery as all the products are engineered very well. The fact it has a base at Stirling is very important because it is convenient and gives us the back-up we need.”

He said he chose the SMC TL-90, one of Morris Site Machinery’s most reliable and popular products, because it is very compact, light, easy to handle on site and also quieter than a number of models on the market.

The fuel-efficient lighting tower is available with either 1000W or 400W metal halide lamps which provide a strong and even light stream. It functions in all climatic conditions and is suitable for a wide range of applications. An Advanced Safety System is fitted as standard.

Richard Denholm, Sales Director of Morris Site Machinery said: “We have quality products and we maintain strong links with our customers by giving them the best service. We have supplied YES since it started and have seen it grow. We hope to play a part in its future success too.”

Morris Site Machinery is part of a fifth generation family business. It has four depots and service hubs across the UK and has built a robust reputation for quality, supplying the hire, rail, petrochemical and construction sectors with its market leading brands SMC, Hilta, Denyo and ArcGen.
