A leading UK hire company, Hewden, has underlined its commitment to upgrading its offer and backing innovation by taking delivery of 100 new SMC TL-90 lighting towers.

The fuel efficient, super-silent lighting towers from Morris Site Machinery have been provided in a special partnership deal to upgrade and replace the existing fleet and will allow the hirer to offer customers greater choice and flexibility in the market.

Adrian Murphy, Chief Executive Officer at Hewden, said: “We know the quality and reliability of equipment from Morris Site Machinery. The new SMC TL-90 lighting towers offer even greater fuel efficiency and further carbon savings than the previous model. This latest range of towers is an important addition to our fleet as we look to reinvest in the business, giving customers the very latest and most innovative products and choice.

“The Hewden vision is to create a unique, innovative and safe customer experience, so we want to partner with suppliers who offer us the right products to help us remain competitive and stay one step ahead. We know fuel efficiency and safety are two of the key priorities for our customers and this fleet is able to offer a product solution that is both effective and efficient.”

The SMC TL-90 is a super silent, diesel driven mobile lighting tower which sets the standard for quality, reliability and performance. It can be used in a variety of sectors which require fuel-efficient, reliable temporary lighting.

The Advanced Safety System, pioneered by SMC, which includes automatic mast descent and alarm activation when mast is deployed – as well as a range of transportation features including a strengthened lift eye, rear fork pockets for easy loading, and strap down points so loads can be secured at ground level – has been fitted as standard, giving customers added confidence.

The hydraulically operated mast can be fully extended to 9m height in only 12 seconds, with four 1000W metal halide lamps fitted to super high output reflectors for high intensity directional light. The tower is also fuel efficient, providing up to 85 hours of operation.

Phil Winnington, Managing Director at Morris Site Machinery, said: “Our SMC TL-90 lighting towers are designed and manufactured in the UK and enjoy an excellent reputation in the marketplace. Hewden has clearly demonstrated its faith in them and we have strengthened our partnership with one of the strongest rental brands on the market.

“We are delighted Hewden has retained and enhanced its relationship with our brand by further investment and upgrading of its fleet in this way.  Taking 100 TL-90 lighting towers is a significant endorsement.”

The SMC TL-90 and other innovative lighting solutions from Morris Site Machinery will be on display with Hewden at the Showman’s Show on 21 and 22 October at Newbury Showground to support company growth in the event sector.
