AWARD WINNING HOUSEBUILDER HERALDS JCB’S SMALLEST LOADALL

The brand new 516-40 Loadall – the most compact telehandler in the JCB range – is proving a real hit with a UK housebuilder.
Stratford-upon-Avon-based Johnson & Johnson, has taken delivery of one of the first of the newly introduced compact telehandlers since the model went into production and has used it on a series of luxury housebuilding sites in the Midlands.

Just 1.56m wide and 1.8m high, the JCB 516-40 is powered by a 2.2-litre JCB Diesel by Kohler engine, producing 49hp (36.6 kW) of power. With permanent all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, the 516-40 offers a turning radius of just 2.8m. A lift capacity of 1.6 tonnes and a maximum lift height of 4m, makes for a powerful performer on house building and general construction sites.

Johnson & Johnson Director, Martin Johnson said: “We bought our first new JCB telescopic handler15 years ago and have used them ever since. This nippy new model is absolutely fabulous. Performance is very good all round and its ability to get palletised building materials into the most confined areas on site makes a massive difference for us.

“It joins our fleet of JCB Loadalls and excavators which are all very well looked after by our dealer Gunn JCB which provides an excellent and responsive service.”

The 516-40 also features an offset single-spine chassis and individual hydraulic wheel motor drive system, that delivers the overall size and agility of a skid steer loader, with the greater lift capacity and reach of a telescopic handler. An improved hydrostatic drive and upgraded hydraulic lift components deliver additional capacity and an impressive working envelope for such a compact machine.

The improved hydrostatic transmission delivers increased pushing power and higher travel speeds in both low and high travel ranges. A constant-flow hydraulic option can be used to power rotary sweeper brushes and other attachments, independent of travel speed. A single proportional joystick controls all boom and auxiliary hydraulic functions for ease of operation.

Based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Johnson and Johnson is an independent, multi award-winning housebuilding company operating across Warwickshire and the Cotswolds. Established 40 years ago, it has privately purchased, developed and sold hundreds of family homes.

Directors Martin and Ivor Johnson founded the company and have built up an excellent reputation for creating highly unique residential projects. As a result, many of the completed houses sell off-market and some often sell long before completion.
