Careers at Caterpillar – As the summer break arrives, it will be time for many to think about future career moves or getting their first job. And I, for one, would love to get more people interested in a career in the plant and equipment sector.
This is why I recently met with my good friend Sam Mottram at Plantworx Construction Exhibition 2023 where the Caterpillar Inc. stand was surprisingly careers focused, with roles up for grabs.
You might also be surprised to learn that 10,000+ people work for one of the Caterpillar owned brands in the UK. As Sam pointed out to me in this video where he also highlighted opportunities, roles, locations, and career pathways available at Caterpillar.
Sam: “Caterpillar has been in the UK since 1950, and we now have 24 different locations in the UK, including the Perkins Engines factory just down the road from the Plantworx event in Peterborough. “We have such a diverse range of roles that not only support our machines and engines, but also our financial services and the new energy transition projects we are now undertaking. “Yes, you can be an engineer, but you can also work in roles as diverse as being a site nurse to marketing and much more, as we are always looking for great talent across our business.”
Having worked with the Caterpillar brand for over 18 years, I have seen how the business takes its employees on a career pathway into different roles, giving them a broader knowledge of the industry. And in some cases, people have taken on roles across the globe. This is especially the case for those working with the dealer network like Finning UK & Ireland in the UK.
Sam added: “I have been with Caterpillar for 20 years now, and it’s not just about the work itself.
