Peter Thompson, CanTrack’s MD, has today announced that CanTrack People, a lone-worker safety device, will be used by the CEA’s Plantworx team for 4 weeks in May and June, the duration of the event. Held at the 300-hectare Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire, Plantworx, the UK’s biggest live working construction event, will cover over 140,000 square metres.

CanTrack People addresses the need to manage lone-worker safety responsibly. It’s a cost-effective solution which delivers accurate real-time location reporting, an SOS alert with automated calling, intelligent fall detection and more. The self-contained device, the size of a car key-fob, is convenient to use. During Plantworx over 20 CanTrack People devices will be used by site managers, maintenance teams, site contractors and site security personnel many of whom will be working alone, with staff on-site 24/7.

Simon Frere-Cook MBE, Plantworx’s Event Director comments, “Plantworx is a large and complex undertaking involving dozens of contractors and over 300 exhibitors. Safety, for all concerned, is of paramount importance to us and therefore using CanTrack People to keep in contact with our team, many of whom will be working on their own or remotely, around the clock is a responsible and sensible step to take. Our operations room will be using the CanTrack web enabled user interface to keep tabs on the team throughout the event. Whilst we hope it’s never needed the SOS function could be crucial in minimising the impact of an incident.”

CanTrack People is fitted with a SIM card which allows SMS and voice communication in emergencies with any one of three pre-set ‘phone numbers. Weighing in at just 40 grams the People device is convenient to carry in a pocket or wear on a lanyard. The battery life is exceptional with a seven-day life in standby mode’ with GPS in sleep mode. In the default mode, which sees the unit update its location every 10 minutes, battery life is around 3 days.

CanTrack’s product range allows the continuous monitoring of equipment fitted with Asset, vehicles fitted with GPS and workers carrying People all on one easy to use interface. The recent upgrade to version 4.0.3 gives CanTrack’s customers added convenience and functionality for all 3 products. A new alerts panel gives users a convenient and instant update on their fleet and people so that important actions take priority. The panel shows accident detection from GPS, motion sensing or overturn alerts from Asset and SOS and fall down alerts from People. Serious alerts are also shown as red concentric circles on the map.

CanTrack will exhibit at Plantworx for the first time in 2017 on stand B51. For more information go to www.cantrack.com
