Construction output in Great Britain grew by another 2.9% in September, compared to August but is still well below pre-Covid levels, official statistics show.

The Construction Index have published an article about the latest UK construction statistics for output and orders released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) today. This reports further recovery in output of 2.9% in September, slowing from 3.8% in August, but this was sufficient to record a 42% increase in output in Q3 compared with Q2. However, on a year to date basis, output in the first three quarters of the year is still 18% behind last years level.

Orders in Q3 showed an 89% improvement on Q2 levels, after recording a 54% fall in Q2. This takes the level of orders in the first three quarters of the year to 13% below last years level. However, it was encouraging to see that orders in Q3 were at a very similar level to Q3 2019.
