Bobcat equipment supports wildfire prevention
Wildfires are becoming more severe, with more than twice as much tree cover burned globally today than 20 years ago.
Managing dry vegetation before the highest-risk periods is an important part of wildfire prevention. Clearing brush, branches, stumps and undergrowth reduces combustible material and can help stop small fires from spreading.
Bobcat offers compact loaders, excavators and specialist forestry attachments for vegetation clearance, firebreak creation and the maintenance of forest tracks and emergency access routes.
Forestry mulchers, tree cutters and stump grinders can remove shrubs, brushwood and dry vegetation, while the compact size of Bobcat machines allows them to work between trees and reach areas that larger equipment cannot access.
The machines can also be used to clear vegetation around homes, infrastructure and rural communities.
Carlos Campos, Bobcat Compact Equipment District Manager for Iberia, said:
“From land clearing and brush removal to log loading and planting new trees, Bobcat machines and attachments can adapt to a wide range of forestry tasks.
“They are capable of demanding work while remaining manoeuvrable enough for selective tree removal and brush clearing.”
Bobcat’s quick-attach system also allows one machine to carry out several different tasks, helping contractors and land managers work efficiently across varied terrain.
