UK Dumper manufacturer, Thwaites were delighted to work with local community charity Helping Hands this week (6th November) by providing BBQ food and Beanie Hats to the less fortunate people in the area. Based in Gloucester Street, Leamington Spa, Helping Hands provides support to local groups who need it the most.

Thwaites UK Sales Manager Andy Sabin said, “Thwaites has been manufacturing Dumpers in Leamington Spa for 80 years, the majority of our engineering, operational, sales and support team are local people.”

This year Thwaites launched a unique Dumper BBQ, specially commissioned and hand-crafted, this scaled replica 6-ton dumper, provided catering and hospitality for customers and guests at various construction trade shows and events.

Andy Sabin continued, “Before we put the BBQ away for the winter, we thought it would be a good thing, if we could prepare and provide some hot food for those less fortunate in our community.”

Teaming up with Helping Hands, Thwaites were able to set up the Dumper BBQ outside the charity’s Leamington Spa Soup Kitchen, serving over 100 burgers and cups of tea to the homeless and needy in the area.

Helping Hands CEO Lianne Kirkman said, “We are so grateful to the Thwaites team for turning our homeless Soup Kitchen into a winter BBQ. With lots of hungry mouths to feed, and heads to keep warm, the hot food and warm beanie hats provided, ensured the event was a real success. We at Helping Hands always appreciate it when local businesses help local people in need.”

With the harsh reality being that 48 is the life expectancy for a homeless man and just 43 for a woman. Find out more about the support Helping Hands provide https://www.helpinghandscharity.org.uk/
