CEA members invited to take part in Enginuity’s latest SME Snapshot Survey
Enginuity’s SME Snapshot Survey is now open for its third edition, and CEA members are invited to share their views.
Why the survey matters
This short survey captures company-level insight that helps put SME experience at the heart of policy, supports reforms that are practical and affordable for small firms, and strengthens the evidence base we can take to decision-makers. Business leaders and decision-makers in SME-sized engineering and manufacturing firms are being asked to share what’s happening on the ground. This year, Enginuity has also engaged policymakers to shape the questions, so the findings can feed directly into active skills policy and reform work.
Enginuity is a charity dedicated to finding new ways to close skills gaps in UK engineering and manufacturing. Their most recent SME Snapshot Report (published March 2026) drew responses from 250 SMEs, representing more than 10,000 employees and £1.91bn in combined revenue, and gave Enginuity the evidence needed to secure a meeting with the Minister for Skills, Jacqui Smith and increase our engagement across government.
The survey comes from Enginuity’s Policy Centre for Supply Chain and SMEs, which is an independent arbiter that brings together industry, industry bodies, policy organisations and government to collaborate on the skills and policy priorities that drive growth and support a thriving and resilient supply chain. Their SME Snapshot Surveys are a way of gathering evidence to turn real-world experience into clear, actionable messages for decision-makers.
How CEA members can take part
The survey went live on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 and will be open for three weeks, closing on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
CEA members are strongly encouraged to take part. If we receive enough responses, we will be able to work with Enginuity to produce a bespoke CEA summary, so we urge you all to complete this vital survey.
