June at the CEA
I can’t quite believe that I am already writing the June CEA blog. May seems to have flown by, and it has been another busy month.
Firstly, a quick April update. On 30 April, at their AGM in London, I was delighted to formally sign the contract with AMPS – The Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Power Generating Systems – to make CESAR available to their members. This is another major milestone in the fight against equipment theft. The day was made more special as we were able to announce that JCB has been the first to adopt this for their Power Generation systems.
I then left London and travelled north to meet with CEA member Blue Machinery, to attend their open day. Their site was busy, with lots of equipment on display, including machines from both Merlo and Terex, both of whom are also CEA Members. It gave us an excellent opportunity to discuss some of the challenges faced by dealers and distributors in the sector.
On Monday 19 May, together with several other CEA colleagues and members, I was honoured to attend the AEA’s 150th celebratory reception at the Houses of Parliament. The event was very well attended, with some excellent speakers, and it provided a great opportunity to reflect on how the Association has changed over its long history. The evening also offered excellent networking opportunities. My diary for June is already looking very full with meetings from the members, potential members, and stakeholders I was able to catch up with. Huge congratulations to the AEA on their major milestone. It has also prompted me to dig into our history a little more to try to pin down our next major anniversary, and ex-CEA CEO Rob Oliver is searching through his archives as we speak, so watch this space!
My last face-to-face meeting of May (before taking a few days leave) was to visit SMT GB at their HQ in Duxford. SMT GB is always a very active participant at both the General Technical Committee meetings and the Members’ Forums. However, this meeting with Phil Battle (Divisional Director) was to talk about wider strategy and future planning, and we had a very informative and fascinating few hours together.
Next some housekeeping, members have recently been contacted by Beth to submit an entry into our new member directory. If you have not already submitted your entry, therei is still time to. Get in touch with Beth now for more information. The new Member Directory is now live on the website. The aim of which is to:
- Highlight and promote your services to over 600 member contacts and 2,000 monthly website visitors
- Directly connect with your customers
- Build your network.
The Directory comes as a result from member feedback and requests for greater collaborative working within the membership.
The next GTC takes place on the 10 and 11 June in Northern Ireland. Many thanks to Terex for hosting what is, as always, a very busy day with a packed agenda. Find out more about this and other events in our events calendar.
Finally, looking into July, the next Members’ Forum takes place on the 9 July in Portsmouth, very kindly hosted by Danfoss. The dinner on the 8 will be the CEA Summer Party, and I hope many of you can join us for some fun and celebrations. Places are filling fast, so if you haven’t yet registered, please do so soon to avoid disappointment. Book your free place now.
