CEA CEO Viki Bell joins iVT deputy editor Anjali Sooknanan to discuss progress on the Association’s manifesto pledges, the delivery of the Government’s Industrial Strategy, and the challenges and opportunities ahead for UK OEMs.
CEA (Construction Equipment Association) CEO Viki Bell has joined iVT Magazine’s latest podcast to discuss how the Association is supporting UK OEMs through policy, advocacy, and collaboration.
Recorded ahead of this year’s PlantWorx exhibition (23rd–25th September), the podcast explores how the CEA has delivered on the pledges set out in its manifesto — from influencing the Government’s Industrial Strategy to tackling regulatory alignment and driving the decarbonisation agenda.
“The manifesto set out a clear blueprint for how the UK construction equipment industry can grow and stay competitive,” said Viki. “It’s a live document for us — one that shapes our conversations with government and keeps us focused on creating the right conditions for investment, innovation, and sustainability.”
Viki described the Industrial Strategy as the most transformative outcome so far, giving the sector stability and confidence to invest. She also highlighted the CEA’s continued push for regulatory consistency between the UK and EU, noting that “every difference in rules can mean extra testing, extra cost, and unnecessary barriers for manufacturers.”
The discussion also touched on decarbonisation, where Viki pointed to the rapid progress of battery-electric and hydrogen-powered machines, but warned that success depends on infrastructure — from grid capacity to alternative fuel supply.
Skills and workforce development remain another focus, with initiatives such as Rethinking Futures and Myglobalbridge helping to build a strong pipeline of future talent.
Looking ahead, Viki said the CEA’s priorities include shaping the implementation of the Industrial Strategy to ensure tangible benefits for OEMs and supply chains, while continuing to champion collaboration across the sector. “When we speak with one voice, we’re far harder to ignore,” she said.
