CEA members invited to free government sanctions briefing
CEA members are being invited to attend a free UK Government business briefing on sanctions compliance and enforcement, taking place on Monday 8 June at Eversheds Sutherland in Salford.
The event is aimed at helping businesses better understand the latest developments in sanctions compliance, including the growing risks linked to sanctions circumvention through third countries.
For most exporters, the briefing will help clarify what remains business as usual and where greater care is now required. The new sanctions end-use controls are designed to address the risk of goods being routed through non-sanctioned third countries before reaching sanctioned destinations. This means businesses will need to be alert to “back door” routes, unusual end users, or transactions where the final destination of goods may not be clear.
The morning session will focus on goods sanctions, while the afternoon session will cover professional business services sanctions, giving companies the chance to hear directly from government officials and ask questions.
Representatives from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the Office of Trade Sanctions Implementation and HMRC will take part in the briefing. The sessions will be moderated by Sanctions SOS.
The event is free to attend.
CEA members wishing to register their interest should email OTSI@businessandtrade.gov.uk
