CEA supports Safety Shield documentary celebrating British innovation and site safety
The CEA (Construction Equipment Association) was pleased to contribute to a new documentary from Safety Shield, produced by SJH Group as part of the 100 Years of Monarchy and Democracy commemorative book.
Safety Shield, a CEA member, was invited to feature in the prestigious publication following its receipt of the King’s Award for Enterprise in 2024. The commemorative book was launched at Westminster Abbey and celebrates organisations that are making a positive contribution through innovation, enterprise and impact.
The short documentary tells the Safety Shield story, highlighting the people, purpose and technology behind the business. It features Jonathan Guest, CEO of Safety Shield, who reflects on the company’s journey and its commitment to developing technology that helps protect people, reduce risk and improve safety across high-risk working environments.
The film also includes Training Development and Familiarisation Manager Jimmy McGurty, who explains how Safety Shield’s detection zones are designed to support operators and help identify potential hazards around moving plant and machinery.
Viki Bell, CEO of the CEA, was invited to contribute to the documentary, alongside representatives from the CPA - Construction Plant-hire Association and Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland. The film highlights the importance of collaboration across the sector when it comes to improving safety, supporting innovation and bringing practical technology to the people working closest to machinery.
Commenting on the CEA’s involvement, Viki Bell said:
“Safety Shield is a fantastic example of British innovation being used to tackle a very real challenge in our sector: keeping people safe around working machinery. The technology has a clear, practical purpose and it was a real pleasure to be part of this documentary and to help tell that story.
“As a CEA member, Safety Shield represents the kind of forward-thinking business that is helping to raise standards across the construction equipment sector. Their recognition through the King’s Award for Enterprise is thoroughly deserved, and this film captures not only the technology, but the people and commitment behind it.
“We were delighted to be involved and would encourage members and the wider industry to take a few minutes to watch the video.”
The CEA congratulates Safety Shield on its inclusion in the 100 Years of Monarchy and Democracy commemorative book and on the continued recognition of its work in improving safety around plant and machinery.
