Registrations open for National Manufacturing Day 2026

CEA members are being encouraged to take part in National Manufacturing Day 2026, with registrations now open for what has become a key opportunity to engage the next generation of talent.

Taking place on Thursday 24 September 2026, the initiative—now in its fifth year—continues to grow as a national platform for manufacturers to demonstrate what modern manufacturing looks like across the UK.

Led by Make UK, National Manufacturing Day invites businesses of all sizes to open their doors through site tours, live demonstrations, careers talks and hands-on activities. It offers a simple but effective way to give students, educators and local communities a genuine insight into the sector.

For construction equipment manufacturers and the wider supply chain, it is a practical way to connect with schools and colleges, address ongoing skills challenges and highlight the range of careers available—from engineering and design through to digital and operational roles. For a sector that continues to face skills shortages, it provides a clear route to start building future talent pipelines.

With schools planning well in advance, we encourage early registration to maximise engagement and give us time to build meaningful links with local education providers. Participating companies are supported by the Make UK team with guidance and resources to help shape their activities.

Viki Bell, Chief Executive of the CEA (Construction Equipment Association), said:
“National Manufacturing Day gives our members a straightforward way to show what they do and why it matters. Opening the doors and speaking directly to young people helps tackle outdated perceptions and provides a clear view of the available careers. I’d encourage members to get involved early and make the most of it.”

As the industry continues to focus on attracting and retaining talent, initiatives like National Manufacturing Day play an important role in connecting businesses with future engineers and specialists.
