Joel Gardener selected to receive one of The Bedford College Group’s ‘Apprentice of the Year’ awards
RSP UK is proud to announce that Joel Gardener has been named the Central Bedfordshire College Apprentice of the Year by The Bedford College Group. Joel is a Service Engineering Apprentice at RSP UK and is currently in the second year of his apprenticeship.
Joel was nominated by Central Bedfordshire College engineering tutor Stephen Loughran and the award recognises Joel's commitment to his apprenticeship.
"Joel stood out for the way in which he applies himself, even to the parts of the training he finds difficult," said Stephen. "He is eager to learn and develop, has a great attitude and is always willing to share his gained knowledge with his peers."
Joel is currently enrolled in Central Bedfordshire College's Level 3 Engineering Technician - Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship course, which provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field while also earning a recognised engineering qualification.
"Joel is a valuable member of our team," said Nick Hinson, Engineering Manager at RSP UK. “He is always willing to go the extra mile, and we’re really pleased to see how he has progressed so far. I am confident Joel is going to have a bright future in engineering and will excel in his career.”
“Supporting people through apprenticeships is a really important part of our business,” said Lloyd Gardener, Director of RSP UK. “As a former engineering apprentice myself, I know the hard work and dedication you must put in, both in the workplace and at college. We’ve always been very proud that RSP UK is a family business and so it’s a special moment for us to see our nephew being recognised with an external award so early on his engineering career.”
Joel was presented with his Apprentice of the Year award at a ceremony in Bedford on Tuesday 11 February.
