Webtec launches online tool to simplify hydraulic valve selection

CEA member Webtec has launched a new online product selector designed to help engineers identify suitable hydraulic valves from more than 10,000 possible configurations across its 180 and 280 series.

The nine-step online tool guides users through the selection process, helping them identify the most appropriate valve for their application based on operating conditions, hydraulic fluid, pressure and flow requirements.

Developed for engineers working across several industries, including construction equipment, agriculture, mining and quarrying, the selector aims to make a potentially complex specification process more straightforward.

Rather than requiring users to compare numerous technical specifications, the tool progressively narrows the available options according to their requirements. Incompatible configurations are automatically excluded, helping to reduce the risk of selecting an unsuitable valve.

The process begins by identifying the intended application, with options covering lifting equipment, hydraulic power units, emergency actuation systems and portable hydraulic tools, among others.

Users are then guided through a series of questions covering operating environments, hydraulic fluids, connections, flow rates and pressure requirements.

These selections help determine whether Webtec's aluminium 180 series or stainless steel 280 series is more suitable. The 280 series is designed for particularly demanding environments, including marine and offshore applications, with options for water-glycol fluid compatibility and ATEX-rated applications.

The selector also considers additional features, including Webtec's proprietary PDP® (Pressure Decay Proof) technology, designed to minimise internal leakage, and interflow options that allow more progressive control of hydraulic flow.

Once the selection process is complete, users provide their contact details, required quantity and delivery date before receiving an overview of their chosen specifications and the recommended valve configuration.

The 180 and 280 series offer maximum rated pressures of up to 700 bar (10,000 psi) and flow rates of up to 38 litres per minute (10 US gpm), depending on the selected configuration.

By bringing the available options together in one guided online process, Webtec aims to help engineers make more informed decisions when specifying hydraulic control equipment.
