Mark Clare, Engcon’s Demonstrator and Area Sales Manager, has qualified as a Training Provider and Assessor for the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS).
NPORS is a fully-recognised national training accreditation body and Mark is now fully certified to train and qualify owner-operators on all categories of excavator – both wheeled and tracked 360o excavators above and below 10 tonnes and Backhoe Loaders, as well as the tiltrotator safety awareness course launched at Hillhead by Engcon in 2016.
NPORS registered instructors have all achieved a fully-recognised national training accreditation, by completing a course covering instructional techniques, technical competence and a range of teaching methods. NPORS is one of the four founder members of the Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport which was officially approved by the HSE Board in January 2013.
Mark is keen to put his new skills into practice, saying: “The completion of the NPORS tiltrotator training module is a great way to complement the investment in a tiltrotator. It gives the customer a good heads-up, especially if they are new to ‘tilties’. Most importantly, it raises safety awareness. I can’t wait to get out there and start spreading the tiltrotator love!”

In the two years since we launched the course, we’ve helped build a network of NPORS instructors who can deliver it. Since we started providing one-to-one demonstrations and test drives last year, it was a logical step to ensure that Mark Clare was a fully qualified instructor and, as a result, we can now offer a comprehensive package, covering the operation and safe use of our tiltrotator and the excavators they’re attached to.
“We are the only tiltrotator manufacturer in the UK to offer tiltrotator training – a fact recognised by the Innovation Award we received from the Construction Equipment Association at Plantworx last year. Providing in-house training will be a significant part of our value-added service in the coming year.”
