Kubota’s alternative fuel engines offer extended choice to Original Equipment Manufacturers.

Kubota, the global leader in the manufacturer of oil and water cooled diesel and dual fuel engines, is showcasing an extensive range of engines operated by alternative fuels at this year’s Bauma trade fair.

The range of alternative fuel engines on display on Kubota’s stand (Hall A5, Stand 249) include gasoline, natural gas, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) and CNG (compressed natural gas) engines, all of which can be installed instead of diesel engines.

Daniel Grant, Business Development Manager for Kubota UK, commented: “Kubota’s stronghold and reputation has been built over the years through the development of world class diesel engines, which are renowned across the globe for reliability, performance and efficiency.

“We are not a company that rests on its laurels though, and are constantly looking at ways we can enhance our product offering and improve the service we provide to add value to our customer proposition.  The introduction of our extensive range of alternative fuel engines at Bauma is part of our commitment to deliver this first class service.”

Construction and agricultural machinery has traditionally always been powered by diesel engines because they are robust, economical and cost-effective to produce, service and repair.  However, at the very least, the introduction of Stage V emissions in 2019 will bring an end to cheaper diesel engines as the majority of engines on the market will need lots of electronics, a diesel particulate filter and a whole host of further components added to ensure compliance.

Daniel continued: “There’s no doubt that, even though the industry is still waiting for the final details of Stage V to be published, stricter emissions legislation and the subsequent need to make engines more efficient is going to push the price up as engine technology gets more advanced.

“With this in mind, the industry and OEM’s will ultimately want more choice between power units with similar dimensions.  This is why we are showcasing a range of alternative fuel engine options.  It’s a fact that alternative power sources of this kind could be a cost effective alternative than diesel engines of the future with potentially costly exhaust gas after-treatment, therefore our range of alternative fuel engines will hopefully open up new opportunities for a number of applications.”
